Tell us more about yourself
Management consulting has been the undercurrent of my career, mostly in the information and communication technology space. I’ve spent a lot of time working with private companies but have also spent time in the public sector, working inside government, public authorities, strategic consultancies, vendors selling into government and non-profits supporting innovation.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about giving back to the community, which is how I got involved as a mentor at the Wavefront accelerator. I really like trying new things…I have my pilot’s license, I’m an avid scuba diver, and I’ve been to more than 50 countries.

What’s the focus of your role at Foresight?
At the moment Foresight has two main programs: the Launch program, which is the venture acceleration program for early-stage cleantech entrepreneurs; and the ARCTIC Challenge program, which brings together industry and solution providers on resource sector challenges. I’ll be running the day to day operations of the Launch program, which will free up Neil, our Managing Director, to focus on other strategic opportunities and growing the organization.

What are three things you want to achieve in the next year or so?
Foresight is the only cleantech accelerator in Western Canada and is recognized as a program of excellence. I’d like build on our strengths and take the Launch program to the next level. Primarily by building out our training and educational programs, and also by designing new opportunities for “collisions” among Foresight’s client companies – peer to peer learning is incredibly powerful. Ultimately, I see myself as a servant leader. What I’ll be asking is, what do our constituents need and how do we develop the programs to support them?

We are a humble organization doing a lot of important things around the clean economy, so I’d also like to help the team build a bigger profile in the community. The more organizations that know about us, the bigger our potential impact.

What are you most excited about in your new Foresight gig?
Working with startups that are advancing technologies that contribute to a more sustainable world really gets my juices flowing. I’m excited to work with companies that have a social and environmental impact…helping them succeed will be tremendously rewarding.

Do you have a motto or mantra?
This quote from J. R. R. Tolkien has always resonated with me: “Not all those who wander are lost.”
