New Season of Cleantech Forward Podcast Drives the Conversation on Clean Transportation

June 2, 2025 | Vancouver, BC — Foresight Canada today announced the launch of a new season of its acclaimed Cleantech Forward podcast, focused on the evolution of clean transportation in British Columbia.

This season, hosted by Foresight CEO Jeanette Jackson—recipient of the YWCA Women of Distinction Award (2023) and Business in Vancouver Influential Women in Business Award (2023)—dives into the urgent challenges, exciting opportunities, and practical solutions shaping the future of mobility and accelerating the decarbonization of transportation. Each episode features conversations with leading innovators, industry experts, early adopters, and problem-solvers who are not just sharing ideas, but actively breaking down barriers and scaling impactful solutions.

Listeners will gain insights into key themes, including:

  • Shared electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure
  • The development and adoption of alternative fuels
  • The electrification of heavy-duty vehicles
  • Strategies for decarbonizing ports and shipping

Episode 1: The Future of EV Charging Infrastructure

Jeanette Jackson is joined by Randy Zadra, Clean Transportation Advisor in Foresight’s BC Net Zero Innovation Network (BCNZIN), and David Agosti, Director of Parking and Sustainable Mobility at Simon Fraser University. Together, they explore the most viable solutions for expanding EV charging infrastructure across BC to get more electric vehicles on the road and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Episode 2: Electrifying Public Fleets

This episode shifts focus to municipal transportation. Jeanette is joined by Tauseef Waraich, Manager of Fleet and Equipment at the City of Burnaby, and Rob Safrata, CEO of Fuse Power Management, to explore how cities are transitioning to electric service vehicles—and how technologies like vehicle-to-grid (V2G) are reshaping the economics of fleet electrification. From pilot projects to policy challenges, this episode offers practical insights for municipalities, utilities, and innovators alike.

Episode 3: Decarbonizing BC's Ports and Shipping

This episode explores how decarbonizing ports and shipping in British Columbia isn’t just a challenge––it’s a major opportunity for our province and our country to lead in clean fuels, sustainable infrastructure, and global collaboration. Host Jeanette Jackson chats with Juvarya Veltkamp from C40’s Green Ports Forum, and Robin Silvester, former CEO of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, about BC’s role in shaping a cleaner shipping future. 

Episode 4: An Electric Future for Mining and Logging

In this episode, host Jeanette Jackson talks to the people doing the heavy lifting when it comes to decarbonizing transportation in BC’s foundational industries. Flyn McCarthy, mining industry advisor to Foresight’s BC Net Zero Innovation Network, shares how he’s helping mining companies go back to the industry’s electric roots. And Eric Little shares the inspiring story of how Edison Motors is reviving BC’s reputation for building cool trucks...and this time, they’re electric. 

Episode 5: An Electric Future for Mining and Logging

In this episode, host Jeanette Jackson  explores how hydrogen fits into BC’s clean energy future—what’s working now, what’s holding us back, and what it will take to get more hydrogen vehicles on the road. Foresight’s Director of Research, Alyssa Kelly, joins to talk about how hydrogen is being tried and tested in the cleantech ecosystem, and Norm Barmeier from HTEC shares his passion for hydrogen’s potential and how his company is leading efforts to scale hydrogen fuel infrastructure and technology across BC, and the rest of Canada.
