Director, bioNEXT  (Part time, Contract) 

Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre is a growing nonprofit organization with an exciting mission: accelerating the growth and impact of cleantech ecosystems across Canada. We bring together industry, government, academia, investors, and innovators together to address today’s most urgent climate issues.  

We’re looking for a strategic connector to lead our national bioeconomy ecosystem development program: bioNEXT.

As a member of the Commercialization team, you will report to the VP Commercialization. You will lead budget and proposal development, reporting, and execute programs, projects, and initiatives including ensuring the diligent execution of commitments in existing Federal and Provincial grants obligations and regional sponsorships. 

Your personal goal is to be the primary point of contact and source of knowledge and insight on bioeconomy within Foresight, to maintain strong relationships with key ecosystem partners, and to maximize this sector’s contribution to making cleantech Canada’s leading employer.  

The successful applicant will be a true community builder that is passionate about reducing Canada’s climate impact through technology innovation, and about the potential for Canada to develop a globally-recognized bioeconomy ecosystem. 

This means that you are a great writer and communicator, a team player and entrepreneurial self-starter, are comfortable working remotely, and have strong time and project management skills.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Manage and represent Foresight as a key supporter of the bioeconomy community. 
  • Gather and share information on critical bioeconomy developments. 
  • Recruit new companies into Foresight’s bioeconomy training programs.
  • Gather and share information on new business and financial opportunities that can benefit small and growing bioeconomy companies. 
  • Manage programs that create connections between industry sectors and technologies to grow the cleantech ecosystem overall. 
  • Connect accelerator programs, government initiatives and large companies with an interest in innovation to support the bioeconomy ecosystem. 
  • Oversee proposal development, project management, budgeting and reporting for bioNEXT programs. 


  • Minimum three years experience in government, nonprofit, or private sector. 
  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Proposal writing and corporate partnerships experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the clean technology industry is an asset.

Job Type:  Part-Time, Contract (20 hours per week)
