Accelerating Cleantech

Regional Director, Alberta  (Full-Time)

Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre is a growing nonprofit organization with an exciting mission: accelerating the growth and impact of cleantech ecosystems across Canada. We bring together industry, government, academia, investors, and innovators together to address today’s most urgent climate issues.  We’re looking for a strategic connector to lead our cleantech ecosystem development program in Alberta.

You will lead budget and proposal development, government financial reporting, and oversee and execute all processes for programs, projects and initiatives including ensuring the diligent execution of existing Federal and Provincial grants obligations and regional sponsorships. As a mid-level to senior member of a growing Foresight team your personal goal is to be the primary point of contact and source of knowledge and insight on the Albertan cleantech ecosystem, to maintain strong relationships with key ecosystem partners, and to maximize Alberta’s contribution to making cleantech Canada’s leading employer.

The successful applicant will be a true community builder that is passionate about reducing Canada’s climate impact through technology innovation, and about Alberta’s potential to develop a globally-recognized clean technology ecosystem. This means that you are a great writer and communicator, a team player and entrepreneurial self-starter, are comfortable working remotely, and have strong time and project management skills.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Gather and share information on new business and financial opportunities that can benefit small and growing cleantech companies in Alberta.
  • Manage programs that create connections between industry sectors and technologies to grow the cleantech ecosystem in Alberta.
  • Connect accelerator programs, government initiatives and large companies with an interest in innovation to support the Alberta ecosystem.
  • Oversee proposal development, project management, budgeting and reporting for all Alberta programs.
  • Manage junior staff and coordinate efficiently with existing teams (Communications, Technology and Acceleration) to execute programs and activities).
  • Work closely with the VP Commercialization and the CEO to design and implement an Alberta specific strategy that supports the specific needs within Alberta, and socializes those needs with the Federal government and international partners.
Experience:
  • Minimum five years experience in government, nonprofit, or private sector.
  • Post-secondary degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Must possess strong leadership skills, be able to motivate and influence others, and lead junior team members.
  • Proposal writing and reporting experience is preferred. Previous experience managing the execution of multi-year public grants, including grant reporting, is an important asset.
  • Experience in the clean technology industry, in corporate sustainability  roles within Alberta’s corporate sector, with relevant government agencies, and with key networks including Student Energy, Net Impact, Energy Futures Lab or the equivalent, are assets.

Our Values:

Applicants will be selected and reviewed on an ongoing basis against these values, if you share them, you’ll love working with us:

  • We are ENTREPRENEURIAL. We act with ownership, we are keen to embrace new ideas, and we are comfortable taking calculated risks.
