Vancouver, CANADA – April 7, 2021 — Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre is launching a new national research project to explore the demand for roles and retraining required to advance the clean economy. The project is a partnership between Foresight, Delphi Group, ECO Canada, Lighthouse Labs, Riipen, and the Vancouver Economic Commission, and is funded by the Government of Canada’s Future Skills Centre.
“Skills for a Clean Economy” will identify regions and segments of the workforce most affected by the pandemic, and identify the skills that will be needed for jobs in the clean economy in the future. The project will support skills development, job creation, and a training framework for future cleantech jobs.
The research results will be used by Lighthouse Labs to design a cleantech education plan and education program pilot. ECO Canada will use content for curriculum design and training courses. Riipen will develop bilingual education templates to bring industry, academia and students together on projects. The recommendations will be condensed into a final report to inform new skills programs for a green economy.

This is just one of the exciting shock-proofing projects that FSC is investing in to build a future playbook for shared prosperity, and help Canadian workers and businesses seize opportunities in our future economy.”
