Join us at Foresight for a virtual road trip across Canada in our annual series Cleantech Coast to Coast. From the nation’s largest urban centres, to remote pockets of innovation, we’ll celebrate Canada’s inspiring innovators at every stop.

Buckle up, and come along with us as we visit some of the change-makers and cleantech leaders who are deploying impactful climate solutions, and moving the needle toward net zero. Our next stop: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Water is utilized more than any other natural resource, and is a critical component in nearly every industry. It’s our most precious resource, and one that is extremely vulnerable to the pressures of climate change.

Groups like the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have identified water security as one of the major concerns with the global changes we face brought about by the climate catastrophe. This is why drOPs Solutions’ mission of ensuring fair access to safe, reliable drinking water for all is so important.

The drOPs platform aims to enable water treatment operators to effectively manage clean water production, and acts as a centralized marketplace for all the items a water treatment plant needs in order to keep running. Additionally, with information provided from the water treatment facilities, drOPs identifies best practices and industry standards, and provides a pathway to optimization for operators.

The founders of drOPs — Dillon Petrucha, Edward Robertson, Emily Smenderovac, Jake Lund, and Anne Ballantyne — have decades of collective experience in the water space, have identified barriers to safe, reliable drinking water, and have seen vulnerable communities suffering from inequities.

We aim to enable informed decision-making through collaboration and transparency to resolve the fragmentation in this industry. Our path forward involves building consistency and standardization across system maintenance, inventory management, operator training, and logistics, while linking the industry information and supply network directly to it.

In order to address the fragmentation in the industry, drOPs has developed collaborative tools for everyone to use information effectively and efficiently, in order to solve the challenges of this complex industry, and make an impact on ensuring that this essential resource is easily available to everyone.

A member of the 2023 Earth Tech Cohort, the drOPs team is passionately pursuing their goal of safe, equitable, and sustainable access to clean water for all.

“drOPs is the blueprint for industry collaboration and improved understanding of how to more effectively manage clean water production, leading to positive change at local, national, and global levels,” said Petrucha.

Earth Tech is a six-month accelerator delivered in partnership between SI Canada and Foresight Canada that supports the commercialization of companies led by committed teams driven by environmental impact.
