Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a Canadian owned company or have primary operations in Canada
  • Must understand and be able to communicate the readiness level of your technology (TRL)
  • Each SDG Connect Challenge will have specific additional requirements defined in the challenge submission form

Evaluation Process

  • Evaluation will occur based on key criteria set by the Challenger and will be a balance between technology readiness, business stage, team development, and fit with the desired outcome. The evaluation process will take 10 weeks
  • Foresight will make a shortlist of finalists who will each have the opportunity to give a 30-minute presentation and take part in a Q&A session with the Challenger
  • All submissions will be notified of their status, and the winners will be identified in collaboration with the challenger after presentations
  • Winner(s) will participate in a 1:1 partnership scoping call with the Challenger to explore potential partnership opportunities

Q: What is SDG Connect?

SDG Connect is an open innovation challenge series. It is run by Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre with international partners. The goal is to facilitate opportunities for Canadian companies to showcase their sustainable technology solutions to global markets.

Q: Can I submit my solution?

SDG Connect Challenges are open to Canadian incorporated and/or operated businesses. It is important to review the specifics of each challenge before submitting your solution.

Q: How long does it take to get a response after I submit?

The evaluation process normally takes 10 weeks. Applicants will be provided with regular email updates throughout the process.

Q: How long do I have to submit my solution?

Challenge submission windows are typically 8 weeks. The closing date for each Challenge will be listed on the Challenge web page.

The main benefit of applying is the opportunity to showcase your solution to international companies that are actively seeking solutions to sustainability challenges. Winners will typically enter into exploratory commercial discussions with the host company.

Q: What are some other benefits of participating in SDG Connect?

All relevant solutions submitted will receive support and 1:1 discussions from the partner organization that is hosting the Challenge. This can include introductions to the target market, connections and ongoing advice in accessing international markets.
