Gelly is an entrepreneur, business strategist, and investor with over 25 years of experience building, leading, and advising businesses across sectors. He began his career in the restaurant industry, owning and operating an award-winning restaurant before transitioning into corporate leadership. Over the years, he has held senior roles including Chair of the Board, CEO, CFO, and Company Secretary in public, private and non-profit organisations, developing deep expertise in strategy, finance, governance, and negotiations.

A graduate of Warwick Business School (London) with an Executive MBA, Gelly is passionate about helping startups and early-stage ventures turn ideas into scalable, investable businesses. He has guided numerous founders from concept to investment and successful acquisition, by supporting them through idea interrogation, customer discovery, market validation, competitive analysis and financial strategy.  

In addition to managing his family’s investment company, Gelly has held key leadership roles, including serving on the leadership team of UCalgary’s Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking, leading the University of Oxford’s Startup Incubator at Oxford University Innovation, and supporting early and growth stage ventures through Innovate UK. He continues to share his experience as a guest lecturer at UBC Okanagan and associate instructor and tutor at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School.
