Jochem Kamstra is CEO of Secant Fuel, a Canadian cleantech startup converting captured CO2 and methane into carbon-neutral fuels and chemicals, and an Entrepreneur in Residence at Foresight Canada, where he advises cleantech founders on commercialization, product-market fit, fundraising readiness, and industrial customer adoption.
Jochem brings over 20 years of experience spanning startup leadership, industrial business development, and sustainability strategy across the energy and heavy industry sectors. Prior to Secant Fuel, he held senior leadership roles at Siemens Energy, including Director of Sustainability, where he led the company's global roadmap to net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions across 75+ factories and 425+ offices, and Director of Process Solutions, where he ran a multi-million-dollar turnkey industrial solutions business.
Under his leadership, Secant Fuel has secured its first offtake agreement, been selected as the first international startup in Columbia University's Carbon Tech Development Initiative, and was named to Foresight Canada's 2025 Foresight 50 list of Canada's most investible cleantech ventures. He is also a Fellow of the Energy Futures Lab, where he led an initiative on accelerating carbon capture and storage as part of a national cohort on Canada's energy transition.
Jochem holds an MBA in Executive Management from Royal Roads University and a background in mechanical engineering with a specialization in renewable energy and thermo-fluid dynamics.
