I spent over a decade working in Silicon Valley at Xilinx (now AMD) and Actel (now Microchip Technology) before returning to Canada. I worked on the integration of complex products involving large global teams that built both software and hardware, in the roles of Engineer, Manager, and Project Manager. Not only did I spend a lot of time thinking about technical systems and processes, but this also honed my communication skills for bridging cultures and viewpoints.

Today, I work under my own consultancy, Kestrel Omnitech Inc. I have advised teams at both startups and large companies. Much of my time revolves around open source software: strategy, community, governance, process design, developer enablement, compliance, etc. I also teach development teams how to adopt project management practices, for continuous improvement and scaling. And, my favourite work recently has been in technical storytelling - taking complex information and turning it into a compelling digestible message.

I am a PMP certified Project Manager with an Electrical and Computer Engineering master’s degree from the University of British Columbia, and an Engineering Science bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto.
