Wayne holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgy and Materials Science Engineering from the University of Toronto. He has held senior executive management positions with technically based businesses in start-up, turnaround or acquisition mode in private and public companies, both domestically and internationally, spanning a broad variety of industries, including steelmaking, bio- and advanced materials, precision manufacturing, recycling and waste to energy. He is currently Portfolio Manager for Bioindustrial Innovation Canada, a seed stage, cleantech venture capital fund. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the UK Institute of Materials, Metals and Mining. He holds several patents and is the author of numerous technical papers in several different fields and currently lectures on leadership in the McMaster University Master of Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation programme.
