Lighthouse Energy Wins Clean Energy Challenge, Partners with Fort Folly First Nation

Announcement
June 10, 2025

June 10, 2025 | Fort Folly, NB — Foresight Canada and Amlamgog (Fort Folly First Nation) are excited to announce Lighthouse Energy as the winners of the Amlamgog Microgrid Innovation Challenge. Lighthouse Energy specializes in stabilizing electrical grids by harnessing unused renewable energy—reducing electricity costs, and making clean energy more accessible.

As the Challenge winner, Lighthouse Energy will have the opportunity to pitch their technology to the Fort Folly First Nation community and support the development of the Indigenous Distributed Energy Demonstration Project, which will help Fort Folly First Nation reduce grid dependency, lower costs and emissions, and build long-term sustainability. Lighthouse Energy will also showcase their innovation at the 2025 Atlantic Indigenous-Led Energy Symposium.

A clean, prosperous Canadian economy depends on building an inclusive and equitable future rooted in clean productivity. Indigenous communities across Canada are increasingly at the forefront of clean and renewable energy development. First Nations communities in New Brunswick have already taken bold steps to enhance their climate resilience, including: community energy planning, investments in behind-the-meter energy generation, and commitments to lowering carbon footprints in buildings, alongside initiatives like fleet electrification and EV charging infrastructure. Collaborations that amplify these efforts between innovators and Indigenous communities are crucial to ensuring resilience in the face of climate challenges and driving progress.

Addressing the Adoption Gap

While North America is home to many accelerators, a significant gap remains in supporting the adoption of cleantech solutions. Recognizing the need to bridge innovators with industry leaders, Foresight introduced the Innovation Challenge program. To date, Foresight has conducted over 65 challenges, connecting national and international buyers with innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, profitability, and environmental sustainability.

We want everyone to participate and benefit. This is our chance to create a better future, one that honors Mother Earth and evolves over the generations to come. This is our first gift to the protectors of this land, a seed that will help nourish and support a brighter tomorrow.
