FortisBC has issued an Open Call for technology solutions through Project Greenlight, offering the opportunity to pilot innovations across a network that serves 1.2 million people. The focus is on ideas that advance the sustainability, resiliency, and safety of its operations while lowsering emissions.
The FortisBC challenge seeks solutions in specific areas:
- Utility infrastructure maintenance and inspections: using virtual and remote technologies such as drones, autonomous vehicles, AR/VR and sensors for vegetation management and assessments of asset conditions.
- Enhancing worker safety: technologies that make it safer to work alone and provide analytics related to environmental health and safety (such as wearable technology)
- Electric vehicle charging: innovations to their network of public fast chargers and support home charging
