Transporting Hydrogen Across BC: Opportunities, Risks, and Infrastructure Needs

Transporting Hydrogen Across BC: Opportunities, Risks, and Infrastructure Needs

Foresight is offering First Nations, municipalities, industry and community organizations across BC an opportunity to learn about the future of hydrogen transportation across the province.

As part of Foresight’s efforts to assess the opportunity for hydrogen hub development across BC, we are preparing a detailed report investigating the role chemical carriers could play in the transportation of hydrogen across BC. This informational webinar will share the findings of our report, including:

  • The risks and opportunities of transporting hydrogen using ammonia, methanol, and liquid organic hydrogen carriers.
  • Infrastructure requirements needed to support hydrogen carrier transportation.
  • Potential risks associated with hydrogen carrier transportation, safety concerns, and spill response for each of the three carriers.
  • Opportunities to leverage B.C.’s strengths, and the potential benefits linked to expanding hydrogen carrier transportation.
  • Recommendations for interested parties to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks associated with hydrogen carrier transportation.

Co-authors and technical experts from Sacré-Davey will also be in attendance for a Q&A with attendees.

We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the B.C. Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation to advance this project.
