Building Powerful Connections Through the powerNEXT Network

August 1, 2023

Canada has set its sights on a 100% net zero electricity system by 2035. To achieve this ambitious goal, our national power sector must come together like never before to share knowledge, identify challenges and opportunities, and drive the critical innovation required to reach net zero.

To spark this collaboration, Foresight Canada, with support from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC - IRAP) and Electricity Canada, is launching powerNEXT — an integrated and robust Canadian power sector network that will provide strategic support to power tech ventures, map Canada’s power sector value chain, and drive critical collaboration across our country’s power landscape.

Industry Matchmaking Series

For our first major initiative of powerNEXT, we’re launching the Industry Matchmaking Series. With four events running from September to December 2023, this program aims to bring together power tech SMEs, industry leaders, and end-users to share insights, build connections, and better understand the strengths, gaps, and opportunities present within Canada’s power sector.

Series Format:

The matchmaking sessions will consist of small group reverse pitches, with a panel made up of end-users (large commercial or industrial), independent power producers, power utilities, and grid management and smart grid service providers bringing a range of knowledge and expertise on a variety of sector-specific topics including generation, transmission, distribution, and energy storage.

Topics and Dates:

  1. Power Generation - Sep 28, 2023
  2. Power Transmission & Distribution - Oct 19, 2023
  3. Grid Management - Nov 16, 2023
  4. Energy Storage - Dec 5, 2023
