Cultivating Canadian Agtech Innovation
agriNEXT is a program designed to drive the development and adoption of Canadian agtech solutions. We are focused on fostering and de-risking the innovation required to mitigate GHG emissions in agriculture. Are you ready to grow with us?
Our Key Focus Areas:
1
Mitigation
Improved water management comes from technology adoption and improved soil health.
2
Adaptation
Reduced inputs and GHG emissions come from technology adoption, regenerative practices, and shorter supply chains.
3
Food Security
Technology, traceability and circular solutions can reduce food loss and waste.
4
Regenerative Agriculture
Nutrient density and improved yields depend on improved soil health stemming from regenerative agriculture.
Our goal is to reduce GHG emissions in the Canadian agrifood sector by 50% by 2030.
Agriculture, food production and delivery are inextricably linked to GHG emissions and climate change. Over the last ten years the annual amount of GHG emissions attributed to agriculture has stabilized to around 65 to 69 million tonnes of CO2e (approximately 10% of the country’s total GHG emissions).
