Tradle, a Vancouver-based venture that offers a baby clothing subscription from top brands, was named winner of the Circular Economy Innovators Pitch Competition on June 9th. Founder Blyth Gill made the winning pitch, explaining Tradle’s circular service, which allows parents to easily replace clothing as Baby outgrows them, for a fraction of the cost of new outfits.
Tradle won a prize package that includes $1,500 cash, 10 hours of one-to-one coaching with a Foresight Executive in Residence, access to Foresight accelerator training, and a spot in an upcoming pitching/matchmaking event.
The other presenting companies were Calmura Natural Walls, Reusables, Service Enviro SCAD, and Unbound Chemicals. They presented intriguing solutions for markets ranging from construction to retail.
The judges - Kookai Chaimahawong with Pangaea Ventures, Chris Legler with Axios Growth, and Nelson Switzer with Climate Innovation - rated the pitches based on criteria such as immediacy of impact, how circular the product or process is, and benefits delivered.
Hosted by Foresight, the Circular Economy Innovators Pitch Competition was a side event in Metal Tech Alley’s Industrial Circular Economy Conference, ICE2021. The pitch competition drew an audience from as far away as Texas, San Francisco, and the Netherlands, and from across Canada.
Demand for circular economy solutions is spectacular, according to competition judge Nelson Switzer. Congratulations to all the pitching companies, who demonstrated that innovators are working hard to meet this demand and address urgent climate change challenges.
