Fortis BC Compact Carbon Capture Challenge

FortisBC, in collaboration with carbonNEXT, invites you to participate in an exciting new challenge aimed at finding innovative solutions for capturing and efficiently managing relatively small amounts of CO2 across diverse regions in Canada. This is your opportunity to make a significant impact on greenhouse gas reduction and contribute to a greener future.

We are seeking cost-effective CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) solutions capable of capturing less than 10,000 tonne CO2e/year from various geographic areas within Canada. Successful solutions will not only help mitigate FortisBC's emissions but also demonstrate modular, scalable, and readily deployable designs.

Key requirements for your solution include the ability to accommodate limited electricity availability, adaptability for emissions sources ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 tonne CO2e/year, and the potential for sequestration or beneficial utilization.

Join our insightful challenge webinar on July 10, from 11 am to 12 pm PT, where industry experts Liam Cook, Matthew Hill, and Michael Leyland will share their knowledge and insights.

Speakers Include:

Mike Leyland is FortisBC’s Manager, Innovative Initiatives.  In addition to supporting and championing grassroots innovation efforts at FBC, Mike is also responsible for helping manage FortisBC’s Clean Growth Innovation Fund as well as providing oversight for FortisBC’s investments in electric vehicle charging infrastructure and associated program development.

Matthew Hill is a Renewable Gas Engineer at FortisBC focused on decarbonizing the gaseous energy system in B.C. His work involves several CCS applications, including lowering the carbon intensity of hydrogen production and distributed point source capture.

Liam Cook is curious and resourceful analyst in Resource Development at FortisBC. He holds a BSC in Environmental Science and is pursuing a management of technology MBA at SFU. His work in CCS includes investigating sequestration basins in BC, and scoping out major supply projects.

Take advantage of this opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals and gain valuable insights into the future of carbon capture technologies.
