My 30+ year career has taken me from research scientist to co-founder, CTO and CEO of private, public and non-profit biotech companies to venture capital investor in cleantech startups as manager, director and most recently general partner. This journey has provided me a broad range of experience as founder/CEO, including raising private and public equity and non-dilutive financing, product development and commercialization, intellectual property creation and licensing, corporate partnering, mergers and acquisitions and successful exit. As cleantech VC for a government fund, I sourced and made over a dozen investments from pre-Seed to Series A, sat on various Boards, advised founders on strategy and managed the public exit from one investment that was recognized as VC deal of the year in Canada. I recently co-founded a new climatech VC fund focused on Seed-stage founders in North America with potential solutions to reach net zero by removing Gt/y CO2 from air to produce high-value carbon-based products and replace fossil carbon.
