Another month, another bunch of amazing milestones reached by our network of nearly 900 inspiring cleantech ventures.
This month our network of alumni companies have raised more than $13 million in funding, have been named to globe-spanning top company lists, and have won awards for their tremendous contributions to the fight against climate change.
Here are a few of the highlights:
Awards and Recognition
- Open Ocean Robotics was named one of the world’s 50 most innovative startups in the maritime industry by Thetius, a U.K.-based marine intelligence agency, from a list of more than 2,700 companies.
- Audette and Origen Air were recognized as finalists in the Startup of the Year category at the Victoria Tech Community Awards.
- VoltSafe announced it has been selected as a CES Innovation Awards Honouree for two of its solutions: VoltSafe Home, and VoltSafe Marine.
- Nurture Growth Bio Fertilizer Inc. CEO Le Luong has won the RPA Women Entrepreneur Award. Winners were selected for persevering and contributing to the Canadian economy throughout the pandemic.
- Verdi was selected from a list of more than 500 applicants as one of four winners of the THRIVE Global Impact Challenge.
- HTEC’s VP of Sales and Marketing, Shannon Halliday, has been named as one of Canada’s most inspiring climate leaders in the Women in Energy Transformation Series, an initiative by Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE), GLOBE Series, and Pembina Institute.
Funding
- Audette has raised $12.8 million in seed funding to further its mission of decarbonizing the world’s built environment.
- Viridis Research has been awarded $300,000 in MITACS funding, which will allow them to develop and commercialize their first unit. Viridis also won second place in the third-annual SheBoot Pitch Competition and secured an additional $100,000 in funding from Invest Ottawa and Capital Angel Network.

To date, our network of 890+ Foresight-supported ventures have raised $1.3+ billion in capital, generated $390+ million in revenue, and created 7,150+ high-paying jobs. In total, the economic impact of our alumni companies is more than $2 billion.
We are inspired by the contributions our alumni companies are making to Canada’s transition to a net zero economy, and so excited to see what comes next for these innovators.
